Q&A with the artist!
How did you start in the music business? It all happened when I was scouted by Polydor Records. They loved the fact that
I speak various languages and flew me out to HK for an audition at their studio. A contract was offered the same week, and the rest was history. My first release was a movie soundtrack for a hit film in Asia. To date, the movie is still on replay and fans are still following me.
Subsequently, I released 4 other albums in Asia. Then I relocated back to the US for business, took a vacation from music as I focused on business, writing, and movies production. Finally resumed music production in 2021 and released a new album in March of this year. Read More Here Pretty Things
How would you describe the music that you typically create? My music is
100% original, from music composition, lyrics, arrangements,
instrumentals, mastering to music production, everything is created with
my energy. My music is an eclectic fusion of electronic pop and
alternative RnB.
What is the current project about? The current project is "100% Belinda Song" - a collection of 35 original electronic pop songs that are to be released through 5 different albums. "My Destiny" - "Dreams Come True" -"Worthy" - "See You Tonight" - "You And I"
How do you feel it will inspire others? The lead track in each album carries a special message to the world. "Dreams Come True" contains a message to 'never give up on dreams' - "Worthy" is a pop anthem that promotes self-worth, self-love, appreciation, and acceptance. "See You Tonight" is an album of celebration, the lead track 'See You Tonight' celebrates love and passion, where all other tracks are celebrations of life and success. 'You and I' is an RNB album scheduled to be released in Jan, that album focuses on personal relationships and carries deep meaning for inter-human connections and sentiments.
What is your creative process like? Most of my material comes to me naturally, as if I'm guided into the process. "Dreams Come True" came to me when I was doing my makeup and getting ready to go out. The lyrics came to my mind and then the melody followed, I was singing it in my mind, and then rushed to my home studio to record everything down, everything then came together, the lyrics, the melody, everything. It was amazing.
Who would you most like to collaborate with? I would LOVE to collaborate with The Weeknd.
If you could go open a show for any artist who would it be? Ed Sheeran or The Weeknd.
What is one message you would give to your fans? May all YOUR 'Dreams
Come True as well. Never give up because 'I am "Worthy" and so are YOU!'
What is the most useless talent you have? Sorry, all my talents are useful. (hehehehehe)
Do you sing in the shower? What songs? I do my vocal warm-ups in my shower. Usually classical tunes.
What would you be doing right now, if it wasn’t for your music career? Music will always be a part of me, but when I'm not working on music, I tend to my business and on the side, I'd be writing another novel or producing another movie. Which one day, I'd love to produce a musical based on "100% Belinda Song" music.
Where have you performed? What are your favorite and least favorite venues? The largest audience I performed to was at the Hong Kong Coliseum, it was a sold-out concert with over 12k audience. My least favorite and will NOT perform at - are bars or clubs. When it comes to living performances, I take things very seriously and like to produce a feast for the eyes, ears, and mind.
Do you have any upcoming shows? There have been many requests for virtual performances which I've turned down. When the right opportunity comes along, I will know and will hop right into it.
How do you feel the Internet has impacted the music business? The Internet has changed the world, it is changed everything and also changed music. Now it's so easy to reach a global audience, do a live radio interview with the UK when I'm physically in the US, then my music can be air played by satellite to all parts of the world, how neat is that?
What is your favorite song to perform? "Mental Vacation" because it is an upbeat dance track. Then "Dreams Come True" because it touches hearts.
Which famous musicians do you admire? The Beatles!
What is the most trouble you’ve ever gotten into? 'Trouble?' ... me? nawwww, never, lol.
What is the best advice you’ve been given? "Do the right things or don't do it."
If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?
Fairness and balance between a label and independent artists.
What’s next? Working on getting my music heard, and preparing for something special coming up on 11/11. Then comes the holidays and also
getting ready for the next RNB album "You & I" coming out on
1.1.2022
What should the world know? "Belinda Song" of course ;-) hehehehehe
