            Despite accounting for only 3% of all pharmaceutical sales in India, associations for retail pharmacists, such as the All India Organization of Chemists and Druggists, have been hostile toward e-pharmacy (AIOCD). The Union Health Ministry recently issued guidelines that mandate the E-pharmacy register with the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO), the primary licensing and regulatory body for pharmaceutical sales in India in an effort to formalize the online sale of drugs. AIOCD strongly reacted to this action and even threatened to boycott the medications sold by the pharmaceutical companies that invested in e-pharmacy.
