Crowdsourced Smart Parking Market
A growing number of mobile applications promise to allow "smart cities" by leveraging contributions from residents equipped with sensing mobile devices. However, there are few widely accepted rules for building and deploying crowdsourcing-based mobile solutions. This paper uses the design of a crowdsourcing smart parking system as a case study to investigate the fundamental design concepts that apply to a wide range of similar applications. We demonstrate through simulations that the tactics underlying crowdsourcing can have a significant impact on the utility of such systems.
