Implantation cramps are experienced when a fertilized egg implants itself into the endometrial lining of the uterus. Pain associated with implantation is typically less severe than that of ovulation pain or menstrual cramps and occurs approximately four to eight days before the start of your period (about six to 10 days after ovulation).
