We know that water is essential for most life on Earth, so species that survive in the world's most arid environments have their work cut out for them. Of all the desert animals, the camel is easily the most iconic. Whether one-humped ( Camelus dromedarius) or two-humped ( C. bactrianus ), they can withstand temperatures over 40 °C and water losses of over 25% of their total body weight.
In general, evolution has led many wild animals to perfect their blows, bites, and brute force to survive in a world full of predators eager to take a bite to replenish their strength. But who is the strongest?
Many animals have different kinds of strength; that is clear. Some have sheer brute strength and can lift, drag, push, or pull enormous weights, such as an elephant, bear, or rhinoceros. Others can be much smaller but have immense power than their size; you can imagine (like ants or beetles). So despite the belief that animals larger in size and weight are stronger, it would be wrong to assume this idea since there are a few species, small species on our planet, whose strength equals or exceeds that of animals—Giant in size.
So, regardless of their weight and height, animals of different species can count on extraordinary strength to make humans envious.
But what is quite complicated is determining which is the strongest animal in the world since there are so many different types of strength in the animal world that it is almost impossible to establish one of them as the strongest.
Gorilla
Gorillas are fearsome and powerful creatures. They can lift approximately 1,000 kilos, the approximate weight of 15 humans, many times their body weight. His arms are more muscular than other creatures and swing from one tree branch to another with his help. They are among the strongest animals globally due to their size and weight.
leafcutter ant
Leaf cutter ants are capable of supporting 50 times their weight. It is one of the strongest animals in the world. The jaws of these insects are very powerful in holding leaves and other objects and can travel great distances carrying this enormous weight.
dung beetle
How could it be otherwise? The dung beetle had to be in this repertoire of the strongest animals in the world. This insect is capable of lifting 1,141 times its weight. To put this kind of force into perspective, it would be the same as seeing a person pulling six full double-decker buses if a human could move that much weight. Dung beetles use this super strength to roll huge dung balls back to their homes, fend off thieves, and impress females during the mating season.
giant grouper
Didn't you imagine a fish in our selection? The giant grouper or goliath grouper ( Epinephelus itajara ) can even confront sharks. Its size is already challenging. It can grow almost 2.8 meters long and weigh close to 400 kilos. They can eat almost anything in the ocean and are big and strong enough to eat an adult shark, although they also hunt sea turtles or octopuses.
Tigre
This predator has an incredibly powerful bite force, but its power does not only lie in its bite capacity. A tiger can carry about 550kg, twice its body weight, three meters up a tree. It is the largest member of the cat family. Their beautiful orange and black striped fur provides camouflage when hunting prey at night when they can reach speeds of 65 km/h.
Ox
Used in the past for transportation, farming, irrigation, and grain milling, these large-horned mammals can carry heavy weights for an extended period compared to other draft animals. They can load up to 800 kilos.
green anaconda
The most powerful snake in the world in terms of strength is the green anaconda ( Eunectes murinus ), a boa species in Colombia, Venezuela, the Guianas, Peru, Bolivia, Brazil, Trinidad, Ecuador, and Tobago. When attacking, they turn their body around the prey and hug it to death; then, they swallow it whole. It has such immense power that it crushes its victims. They can consume large prey.
Harpy eagle
The strongest bird in the world is undoubtedly the eagle. There are about 60 species of eagles in the world, and they are some of the largest birds of prey. It will not surprise us either that they can easily lift animals that represent many times their weight (such as a monkey) during the flight. The harpy eagle can weigh between 5-9 kilos and carry up to 15 kilos of prey (like a medium-sized dog).
