Visa Requirements to Study in Germany

Once you've been accepted to a German university, you must apply for a student visa if you want to study there. The visa is good for the duration of your programme. However, you must first submit a student applicant visa application.

You can travel to Germany to take the admission tests for the universities you've applied to use a Student Applicant Visa. This visa's three-month validity period may be extended for an additional six months. This visa may be extended for a maximum of nine months. Once you've been accepted to a German university, you can apply for a student visa, but you have to do so within 9 months.

Documents Required for German Student Visa

• Transcript and certificates as proof of passing the qualifying exams.

• Proof of completion of secondary education.

• Score any required tests for admission such as the GRE or GMAT.

• Results of English language proficiency tests such as the IELTS, TOEFL, and PTE, when you are a non-native English speaker.

• Certificate for passing the German language test, if you are taking up a course where the medium of instruction is the German language.

• Health insurance policy.

• Additional requirements as specified by the university where you will study.
