CMC Vellore was established in the year 1847. It is one of the oldest medical colleges in India and is affiliated with Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University (DMGMU). The college is located in Vellore city, which boasts of a population of 1 million people and has been declared “the greenest city” by The Wall Street Journal.

The institution offers both undergraduate and postgraduate courses in various disciplines such as medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, etc., under three faculties viz: Faculty of Medicine & Surgery; Faculty of Dental Sciences; Faculty of Pharmacy with its library facility for students who wish to pursue research projects or thesis writing activities
