How to make a baby's skin soft

Here are some good tips for you.

1. How to clean the baby's skin every day

Never use soap when cleaning your child's body because it will strip away moisture and natural oils, leaving it dry and irritated after each bath. A shower pouf or washcloth works great in removing dirt without irritating the delicate areas on a baby's body, such as behind ears, crevices in tiny feet, underarms, etc...

2. Use moisturizing lotion

When your child is clean and damp from a bath or shower, be sure to slather him/her with moisturizing lotion. This will lock in moisture and keep your baby's soft skin from drying out. You can also use this lotion to tame flyaway hair and diaper area rashes.

3. How to protect the baby's skin

Sun shines through windows, so babies who spend a lot of time indoors need sunscreen too! Make sure you check the expiration date on any sunscreen product before using it - otherwise it won't be effective or may even contain harmful chemicals that could irritate sensitive skin.

4. Don't ignore red spots on the baby's body

If you notice tiny white dots appear on top of bright red areas, your child probably has heat rash caused by friction from his/her skin rubbing together when irritated (from wearing too many layers of clothing, for example).

5. Keep baby clothes clean

If you're out and about with your baby and notice stains on their outfit, give them a pacifier so they won't lick off any stains or drool while sleeping; that way you can simply rinse off the item when you get home instead of washing the whole thing right away.

6. Keep baby bugs off

If you're going for a walk with your baby in a stroller, you can roll up some crumpled newspapers and place them under the legs of the stroller to prevent ants from crawling up. If there are mosquitoes or other insects that fly around, rub an ice cube or two across their skin to keep them at bay.

7. Cleaning sticky hands

Kids get into all sorts of messes during mealtime! Instead of washing their hands constantly throughout the meal, try wiping them down with wet wipes instead; it'll save time and is great for when they make a mess on themselves while eating.

8. Use unscented wipes

If you are using disposable wipes, try to purchase ones that are fragrance-free. Babies have very sensitive noses and may develop a rash from the intense perfumes used in many baby wipes.

9. Don't put baby powder

There is absolutely no reason to use baby powder or talc in your child's diaper area. It only creates problems and potentially serious ones at that (i.e., ovarian cancer). Instead, go with 100 percent pure cornstarch (arrowroot powder is another alternative). If the skin in the groin region seems irritated, try putting on some organic coconut oil instead of something else. Coconut oil has anti-fungal/anti-bacterial properties which can help soothe irritation when applied topically.

10. Use unrefined virgin coconut oil  as natural diaper cream

There are plenty of reasons why using coconut oil as a diaper cream substitute is a good idea. First, it's super cheap and readily available at most grocery stores (and you can even buy coconut oil online ).

Second, coconut oil assists in healing scars, which makes it ideal for treating the various rashes commonly found on the bottoms of infants. Third, coconut research has shown that lauric acid – a compound naturally found in coconuts – possesses powerful antimicrobial properties. And lastly, if your child suffers from eczema or psoriasis, putting coconut oil directly onto problem areas daily usually does the trick for making those conditions disappear.

11. Don't use wipes full of chemicals

Avoid using baby wipes that contain chlorine, alcohol, fragrance and Phenoxyethanol (another type of preservative). You should also steer clear of wipes with dyes or parabens. If you don't have access to cloth baby wipes, opt for those made with at least 70 percent organic ingredients.

12. Consider using a diaper pail  - Though not absolutely necessary, some parents find diapering convenient with the help of a diaper pail -- especially if they are already buying disposal bags for their kitchen trash can anyway. Remember, though: Diaper pails are not airtight.
