With AR calling, this is the person who is going to do the talking with other parties as a follow-up to getting the bill paid. The three main types of AR calling will include doctor calling, insurance calling, and patient calling.
Doctor calling is one of the most basic of these and is usually the easiest to work with. A medical biller who does this in-office will usually not need to do this, but if it is a third-party billing, they may need to call the doctor. This will help them to get more information about the patient, the procedure that was done, and some of the costs to help get it done.
Then there is the insurance calling. This is going to be were the caller is going to review the whole work-order and then will call on the insurance carrier to see what the status of the bill, see if they have taken care of, or figure out what the next steps are going to be in the process. If there is a reason for denying the service, then they will work with the insurance to see what the reason is and if it is something that can be fixed quickly or if the patient will be responsible for the bill.
Then there is patient calling. IN this one, the patient will receive a call for a number of reasons. This can be to follow-up on some of the bills that were sent to the patient, especially if the patient did not respond, to check on the insurance information that they were given, and even to get clarification in some cases if necessary.
AR calling is an important aspect of medical billing and coding because it includes all of the procedures that need to be done in order to keep the bills paid and make sure that everyone is organized and that nothing is outstanding in the process. The right medical biller will be able to work with all the three parties above to ensure that the AR calling is done well and the bills get paid through the right methods in no time.
