An EEG is a test that looks for anomalies in the electrical activity of your brain or in the brain waves. Your scalp is covered with electrodes, which are made up of tiny metal discs and delicate wires, during the procedure. The electrodes pick up on the minute electrical charges generated by the activity of your brain cells. The charges are boosted, and they can be seen as a graph on a computer screen or as a recording that can be printed out on paper. The reading is then explained by your doctor. The general electrical activity of the brain can also be assessed using the EEG (Electroencephalography) Devices (for example, to evaluate trauma, drug intoxication, or extent of brain damage in comatose patients). During surgery, the EEG may also be used to track blood flow to the brain.
