Cuvettes are tube-like containers used to hold samples for spectroscopic analysis that delivers accurate and reliable results. They are made from quartz, plastic, polycarbonates or glass in various sizes and are scratch-resistant. Disposable cuvettes are preferred to prevent carry over of samples. Quartz cuvettes are specifically used for measuring absorbance in the UV range and plastic cuvettes for the visible light path range. All spectrophotometer cells are completely fused without the use of low melting intermediate glasses or cements. In other words, quartz is fused to quartz and glass is fused to glass. This eliminates strains due to differences in coefficients of expansion found in cells fused with intermediate low melting temperature glasses. Because of the fused construction, the window joints of ICL spectrophotometer cells are unaffected by all types of cleaning solutions.
