Ferro Manganese, also referred to as ferroalloy, is produced by melting the oxides Fe2O3 and MnO2 with carbon. The oxides or the combination are heated in either a blast furnace or an electric furnace where they undergo the carbo thermal reduction process. A ferroalloy with a higher manganese content is ferro manganese. A mixture of the oxides MnO2 and Fe2O3, as well as carbon (often coal and coke), is heated inside a blast furnace or a submerged arc furnace.
Inside the furnaces, the oxides go through a carbothermal reduction process that yields ferromanganese. Steel is treated with Ferro Manganese as a deoxidizer .A ferroalloy with a high manganese concentration is known as ferromanganese. It is created by heating a combination of carbon and the oxides of MnO2 and Fe2O3. Typically, coal and coke are used to create this carbon in a blast furnace or electric arc furnace. By forcing the oxides to undergo carbothermal reduction in the furnace, ferromanganese is created. This substance is applied to steel as a deoxidizer.
