Several Different Kinds Of Cells Contain Lignin As An Organic Polymer
Lignin

Lignin is found in all terrestrial plants as a natural polymer, though some aquatic organisms may contain lignin or "lignin-like" components. Lignin molecules grow through cross coupling between a monolignol radical and previously formed dimeric or oligomeric lignol radicals after dimerization of two monolignol radicals. Lignins are plant polymers that are made up of phenylpropanoid building blocks. They contain the majority of the methoxyl content in wood. Lignins are acid hydrolysis resistant, easily oxidised, soluble in hot alkaline and bisulfite, and easily condensed with phenols or thiols. Many attempts have been made to define lignin or lignins based on their composition, structural characteristics, and formation mechanism.
