Why do you need an upstand?
In order to prevent liquids from seeping behind the cabinets, an upstand is used to fill the gap between the worktop and the wall. A large portion of the daily splashes and messes are also caught by it. Because kitchen upstands are simpler to clean than kitchen walls, this is very helpful.
What materials do upstands contain?
Typically, the upstand is composed of a thinner piece of the same material as the worktop. The upstand has a modest effect and is less obvious as a result of this design continuity. Typically, upstands are 20mm thick as opposed to worksurfaces' 30mm thickness.
What distinguishes an upstand from a splashback?
The entire length of the worksurface is covered by an upstand, which extends the worktop 60 to 120 mm up the wall.
In most cases, a backsplash extends the entire height of the kitchen wall. Although splashbacks can extend the whole length of the worktop, they are often used sparingly to give an extra layer of protection around sinks and ranges.
