A Korean woman gathered together chief investment officers (CIOs) of hedge funds, venture capitals, and private equity funds (PEFs), which are said to be the best on Wall Street in the US, to diagnose the current situation in the economy and financial markets and to share investment strategies.

Julia Rhee is the CEO of Alpha Institute, which advises government agencies and companies looking for funding or investment opportunities on Wall Street.

Alpha Institute is holding the CIO Summit (Chief Investment Officer Summit), where hedge fund, venture capital, and PEF CIOs gather to share information and the latest trends for the third year this year.

This year, on October 18th, at the Harvard Club on 44th Street, New York, JP Morgan Wealth Management, Merrill Lynch Wealth Management, Guggenheim Advisory, Goldman Sachs, Deutsche Bank, Mercer Investment Consulting, Pinebridge Investment, Black Rock Private Equity Partners, New York City Retirement Pension System. It will be held with the participation of others.

David Rosenberg, chief economist and strategist of Chef Glaskin, who frequently appears in US media such as CNBC and Bloomberg, and Richard Bernstein, CEO of Richard Bernstein Advisory, David, CEO of Mercer Investment Consulting, who visited Korea in 2010. Macmillan and others will also attend the CIO Summit this year. CEO Lee said, “Most investment conferences only talk about macroeconomics, but our CIO Summit is different in that manager who actually manages hedge funds and makes investment decisions in venture capitals attend and present and share their investment experiences and ideas.” he introduced

In fact, if you look at the structure of the event, the hedge fund session discusses macroeconomic outlook as well as long/short stock strategy, credit/event strategy, relative value strategy and trading strategy, portfolio composition, and risk management. In the PEF/Venture session, LBO (Leveraged Buyout) strategy, real estate investment, venture strategy, etc. will be disclosed.

The secret that CEO Lee, who was born and raised in Korea, is able to hold the event by gathering CIOs who are leading the investment flow on Wall Street for the third year this year is thanks to working directly in the investment industry and building connections.

An interesting fact is that CEO Lee is not a finance major. Born in Korea, she went to Austria to study at the age of 14 and graduated from the Vienna State University of Music, as a piano major. However, she later went on to attend the Conservatoire de Paris where she was skeptical about the piano and was introduced by a friend, which led her to enter the investment industry.

She said, "I worked for a British hedge fund in Luxembourg by chance, and I even managed a fund because it suited my personality. I am working,” he said. She's a two-job guy who goes to work and runs her own business.

“She started Alpha in 2009 because she works in hedge funds and venture capital, so she can learn how the industry works, build connections, and connect them into a business,” said Lee. Alpha is working with KOTRA and Invest Hong Kong, which supports foreign companies entering Hong Kong.

Since she founded Alpha Institute in 2009, she has been working at Sante Ventures from 7 am to 7 pm and working at Alpha Institute, a personal business, from 7 pm to 1 am, continuing a double life.

CEO Lee said, "The CIO Summit started to build a database necessary for advising on investment projects, and the response is good because people from hedge funds, PEFs, and venture capital can meet and share ideas."
