Patients that have had a gastric bypass: Unless your surgeon instructs you otherwise, refrain from taking aspirin or aspirin-containing products for one month. If you need to take an aspirin every day after one month, you'll also need to take an antacid every day to protect your stomach.
Is it safe for me to take an antacid after surgery?

When you leave the hospital, you will be given a prescription for pain medicine. Antacids can help with indigestion and gas. At first, bowel function may be erratic.
