All the focus is on connected and Automotive Internet of Things security. However, businesses must concentrate on the fundamentals of the industrial processes that produce autos and the increasingly sophisticated parts that go into them. An entire business is at risk when "intelligent industrial devices" are brought online without appropriate cybersecurity. According to a report by the IBM Institute for Business Value (IBV), 87 percent of automakers are using Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) technology in factories and assembly lines without adequately assessing the risk or putting sufficient contingencies in place. Automotive firms need better cybersecurity tools that can continuously identify, reduce, and avoid risk. These tools should be contextual, cognitive, and adaptive.
