HOW TO DRESS FOR MONSOON - YOUR LIST HERE | Iflauntme
Monsoon can be your fashion nemesis, but that’s all in the past now. We forecast days of uncompromising style ahead. We tell you what to wear, what to avoid and how to dress up in this humid weather
Pick the right shoes | Monsoon can turn the streets into a gigantic pothole. To avoid a slip, opt for water-proof ballet flats, rubber soled slip-ons, functional Wellington boots and a pair of outdoor shoes from a weather-dependable brand like Woodland. Save your leather shoes and replace them with patent leather this season.
Avoid wearing heavy fabrics | Denims are not an option for monsoon as they take a long time to dry. Stick to lighter fabrics as their breathability helps deal with the humidity. Pure cotton, mul, chiffon, nylon, gabardine and lightweight silks should be your go-to options. Transparent fabrics, linens and heavy knits are a complete no-no.
Choose the right silhouette | Steer clear from tight-fitted and full-length silhouettes. Make way for free-flowing A-line dresses, khadi sarees, midi skirts, culottes, and cropped pants instead. Bring a chic twist to your ethnic wardrobe by pairing a straight-fit kurta with ankle-length bottoms. Dress up in layers like a kimono jacket over a plain t-shirt, so that you remove it in case you go wet. And while you are at it, why not add a chic rain-wrap to your look.
Select the right colours | Send your pastels and whites - dresses, jeans, footwear - on a short monsoon vacation. Go for darker colours like dark blues, brown, grey and as they hide water and mud stains. Light up the gloomy weather with neon coloured layers and accessories.
Add weather-friendly jewellery | Go for minimal, dainty jewellery to avoid getting bogged down when drenched. Colourful beads and plastic jewellery will work as great add-ons. Avoid wearing metallic or wooden jewellery during this season. Do not over-accessorize- a bright statement neckpiece, a broad cuff or small studs would be enough.
Carry the right bag | Once again, pack your leather bags safely during the monsoon season. Instead go for practical options like canvas totes, vinyl handbags, transparent hobos or a faux-leather clutch.
Get the right kind of clothing and it will give you the courage to venture out, singing in the rain!
