Prior to independence, India was not sufficient source for drugs, medicines and many other formulations. Till 1960, most of the drugs and medicines were imported from foreign countries only. After synergistic efforts of Indian government and Pharmaceutical Industry, production of dedicated formulations and drugs were increased significantly. Today scenario has been changed completely. India is not only self reliant but trusted exporter of Pharmaceutical products worldwide.
