Fumed Nitric Acid Is Used For The Preparation Of Explosives And For Rocket Propulsion In Highly Concentrated Nitric Acid
Concentrated Nitric Acid

Due to its use in the production of explosives like nitroglycerine, trinitrotoluene, gum cotton (nitrocellulose), picric acid, etc., in the production of nitrates, which are used as fertilisers, and in the production of dyes, medications, and synthetic silk fibres, nitric acid is a chemical of significant commercial significance. It is a colourless, intensely fuming liquid that is completely miscible with water. Approximately 68% of regular nitric acid has a density of 1.4. It creates a combination that boils continuously at this concentration (boiling point: 120 °C). Concentrated Nitric Acid has a density of 1.51 and a content of roughly 98%. By distilling 98% acid with starch, fuming nitric acid with dissolved oxides of nitrogen has a yellow tint.  Nitric acid acts as a powerful oxidizing agent and oxyacids of the highest degree are usually obtained.
