Choosing the right office is the primary concern when planning to start business operations. A wrong decision could lead to huge losses, such huge that it cripples the company’s long term growth. Office space, if properly chosen can lead to high productivity and can make wonders in one’s business. Below are the things that one should consider before choosing an office space.

Nature of Business: There are different types of office spaces, like the traditional office, serviced office spaces as well as shared office spaces. One has to take a call based on the nature of the business. For example, start-ups and entrepreneurs prefer serviced office spaces so that they can get short term contacts as they continue to grow their business. In the same way, businesses that have already established and have a concrete future plan go for traditional offices. A third example would be on businesses that have just started and don’t have the funds to go with the above two, go with shared office spaces as they are available at lower expenses. So based on the nature of one’s business, space should be chosen.

Location: Location is important as it creates an impression on clients and showcases the image of the organization. Again the field of business plays a key role in selecting the location. For example, a manufacturing company would want to choose a location close to the warehouses to cut down the transport costs. Also, it is important to check the connectivity of that area so that both clients and employees can reach the office without any hassle.

Layout & Infrastructure: The layout of the space should be worked on to determine if all the amenities like conference rooms, furniture, and other office equipment would fit in. Moving on to the infrastructure, don’t forget to check the availability of ISP and telephone connections as they are required in each and every business.

Budget: At the end, everything depends on the money one is willing to spend. If it is a start-up and is low on budget, consider serviced or shared spaces. It is important to check the rent cycles and see if the company has the budget to pay that much of rent. Total up the entire costs involved including renovations and one-time installations. Prepare a budget and decide accordingly.

Do not click on “I agree” without reading: While installing an app on our smartphones, we just check the “I agree” box and proceed without reading. Here, it may cause havoc and huge long term losses. Read all the terms and conditions of the lease and clarify each and every clause in the lease as you might end up paying huge hidden costs.

Choosing the right office is a difficult task but proper planning and analysis would definitely help you make the right choice.
