If you're considering Botox, the most important considerations should be your safety, the expertise of your practitioner and the products being used. Our most important consideration is YOU – your safety, your results and our relationship with you. Dr Donagh has been carrying out procedures for over 8 years and will not recommend treatment for anyone who he thinks doesn’t need it. That is why we offer a free consultation with Dr Donagh before you go ahead with any treatments. We only use doctors to carry out our procedures.

I came away feeling really pleased with my treatment. Dr Donagh explained everything to me about Botox, as I was a bit nervous, I am really happy with the results 6 weeks later!Mrs N, Brackla

Many people decide to undertake botox injections for many different reasons. Frown lines could be ruining your day. Or your wrinkles could be the only thing you see when you look in the mirror.

The good news is that botox can actually be a quick fix in making you look younger, and at Oak Tree Surgery, we offer botox in Bridgend.

With varying levels of botox administration, patients should be clear on what they want for their appearance and in turn their health before they make any decisions in regard to the type of botox treatment they want to undertake.

This interview with Dr Donagh, Oak Tree’s specialist cosmetic enhancement GP, will help prospective patients understand botox more clearly.

Ever popular, Botox is a drug made from botulin. If is used in cosmetic enhancement procedures, such as those provided by Oak Tree, to remove wrinkles and fine lines on the face. Botox works by temporarily paralysing a person’s muscles. Think of botox as targeting the eyes and all areas above on a person’s face.

I cannot stress enough how important it is to have botox administered by a qualified GP. You are injecting a substance into a person’s body that in most cases never causes a problem. However, if somebody were to have an anaphylactic reaction for example, a GP would have the appropriate training to be able to deal with this safely and effectively. A non-healthcare provider of botox, or someone, who provides cheap botox, would not be so well equipped.

We also have the appropriate insurances and business support in place to ensure we provide a top class service to our patients.

Different patients want to achieve varying looks. Some want to achieve the ‘frozen look’ mastered by many celebrities nowadays, whilst others want to very subtly look a bit younger. The look you want to achieve will quite simply give you the answer as to how often you should have botox. Normally 3-6 months is the correct time frame to work to, but we can discuss this in your initial consultation.

Honestly, I do sometimes feel that I talk myself out of business. If somebody does not need botox or if I feel it is not going to achieve what he or she wants, I will not give it to them. This might not make the most sense for us as a business but I feel very strongly about patient care, and first and foremost I am a GP.

I have also been working with botox patients for over 10 years so I know what I’m doing!
