At Zookbinders we offer many cover fabric and leather options that go through vigorous tests to make sure they will stand the test of time, climate, and temperature. To any photographer looking into albums to offer their customers, we would strongly advise to be wary of albums not made with geniune leather.
Art Leather was known as being the largest and most well-known album companies, until the early 2000’s when they went out of business.
In the late 1980’s, the Futura and Perma Bound covers were made from a bad batch of aristohyde (a manufactured cover material). Sadly, over the next 20 years, customers would see the covers start to deteriorate.
Even now, Zookbinders constantly fields calls from photographers who have client wedding albums from the “Art Leather days”. Unfortunately, these albums are sticky and badly need repair. For instance, the image in this article is from one such customer that had this experience.
Albums made with bad materials underscores the importance of working with materials like genuine leather. Bibles are made out of leather, as are most medieval bindings, and as a result, they often don’t pass the test of time.
When you buy albums overseas, or from vendors that aren’t 100% aware of the supply chain, the results can vary from album to album.
When you buy professional wedding albums from Zookbinders, you can be confident of two things: 1) the albums are made in the United States by a highly skilled team, and 2) we only source the highest quality Genuine Leather and materials for our wedding albums.
We firmly believe every wedding couple should have the greatest souviner from their wedding – a professional wedding album. Therefore, be wary of wedding albums not made with genuine leather because this album is an heirloom to pass down from generation to generation. We work hard to make that happen for your client’s great-grandkids!
