Prof. Dr. Dinesh Gupta is one such great personality who has worn many crowns throughout his life. A mechanical engineer by profession, his education, along with his talent, and multitasking abilities, has redefined the definition of perfection. It is an exciting journey that started from being an average kid during childhood to getting his name registered in the Limca Book of records.
Childhood At Simplicity
"There is no greatness where there is not simplicity, goodness, and truth." - Leo Tolstoy
The real power lies in strengthening your roots, and this is what Prof. Dr. Dinesh Gupta did during his childhood. On May 22, 1978, Dinesh was born into a family of Kalyan, Maharashtra. Although being native of Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, his kins have migrated from there several years before his birth. His grandfather used to work in the post office, and his father was into selling food and beverages on two shops built at the ground level of their house. Dinesh Gupta was brought up in a very peaceful environment, which helps him to know the exact meaning of happiness and success.
Although an average student at school, he was indulged in shaping new skills after completing his tenth class. Starting from learning many things like tailoring and garlanding, he even worked as a fitter at shops on a daily wage basis after completing his high school. It was his hunger, which drove him to do something new every day and use it as an experience in his upcoming life.
Roads For Better Learning
Dinesh wanted to take his learning to the next level, and that is why he formulated a plan for every upcoming year of life. After completing his 10th and 12th in 1994 and 1996, respectively, he decided to do an ITI course in Turner Trade for one year. It was the year when he also got the chance to read the famous book ‘You can win’ by the motivational writer Shiv Khera, which gave a new shape to his career. He followed the book like someone adapting to the learning of the religious text of the Bible, Geeta, and the Quran. Soon he started practicing the habits and logic provided in the book, and his perception to see a life changed not only for his betterment but also for the society.
"If you feel like there's something out there that you're supposed to be doing, if you have a passion for it, then stop wishing and just do it." -Wanda Skyes
With a positive mindset acquired from the book, he went on to complete his diploma of four years in 2001 with a gold medal in his kitty and then Dinesh started teaching diploma students. There did not seem to be any stopping for him, and this fact was evident when he also completed his section A and section B degree from AMIE (Associate Member of the Institution of Engineers). He became so passionate about acquiring skills that there was a goal set for every year, and 2014 was the next year in the list when he finally got admission in IIT Bombay for his post-graduation. While studying in IIT, his main mantra was to learn new things, like electro-hydraulic, PLC(Programmable Logic Control), etc., and earn to support his family. During the 2-year program, he worked as a production cum process engineer in the Sagarika music company, which was famous for making DVD players and CDs. To take his legacy of education to another level, he also completed his M.Tech from JNTU, Hyderabad.
Paying Back To Society
Since the education part is over, and indeed it is now the best time to use his skills and experience to serve the society. In 2016, he started visiting several schools to teach students not only about the course content but also the essence of life. He, along with Sujeet Sunaar, also launched a program named ‘Safalta ki Udaan’ in 2017 to motivate people to get their dreams fulfilled. In the next few years, he even opened a play school, computer classes, along with them, an Aditya Finishing school where everyone can get a chance to learn, dance, and refine their English speaking and writing skills. To reach maximum people and help them to find their hidden talent, he even published a newspaper named after his first program of ‘Safalta ki Udaan’, which gave many people a new direction in their life.
"Giving fish is about helping for one day, but teaching fishing is helping someone for a lifetime." - Philosophy of Dinesh's Life
Dinesh believes in sharing, and that is why he always tries to inspire others by setting himself as an example. Living by this approach, he has already taught and motivated more than 60 thousand students and delivered more than 2500 lectures on different topics. He even penned down his life experiences and other motivational stuff as an author of 9 books. One thing that talent needs is a platform, and Dinesh realized a need to start something where people can understand their capabilities and take their expertise to the next level. It was then he started a company named OMG book of records where talented people like him are given a chance to showcase their talent and get their name registered based on their abilities. Even without getting much financial support from the government and other people, he extended his company's work to OMG talks based on the idea of Ted talks. As many people do not get a chance to feature in Ted Talks, it was formulated with the sole purpose of providing an open session for anyone who wants to share their journey of life to become successful.
One Person: Many Talents, Many Records
The best part of his journey is that his list of talents and interests do not cease at any point. Apart from being an engineer by profession, he changed his life interests to become a well-known Motivator, storyteller, author, counselor, life coach, inventor, and a rainwater harvesting consultant. This list is still expanding at a very high rate and is becoming an inspiration for everyone in society. Dinesh is a man who has successfully carried out all his talents in the best possible way, and that is why his several achievements have been appreciated and acknowledged at the world level giving a new shine to India.
"Define your future by creating it. I am in competition with no one. I run my race. I have no desire to play the game of being better than anyone. I just aim to improve to be better than I was before. That’s me, and I’m free." -Dr. Anjali Chaugule
He is the proud recipient of more than 150 awards for his contribution to the society and educational sector. Not only this, owing to his talent and dedication, he has the feat to etch his name in 19 different national and international books of records. It also includes a major one with his name registered in the Golden Book of Record on August 24, 2018, for creating 207 poems in just 12 hours. He wished to have his name registered in the Limca Book of world records since 2011, but sadly, always faced the rejections. It was a journey of pure patience and persistent efforts to achieve success. After successive failures, he reached out to the team, responsible for award nominations, to find out the reason for his disqualification. He was looking for help and the reason that can justify his failure in all of his attempted world records. This gesture and his zeal to learn from the mistakes impressed the panel, and they revealed that his experiments and work are not falling into the right category for the awards. The crew suggested that he test his luck in the pencil marathon for the world record. Although it was an excellent chance for him, he was unaware of the basics of drawing. But, he decided to give it a try and started practicing drawing even while traveling on the train. Confident about his practice and talent, he attempted to achieve the world record on April 5, 2019, and after 24 hours of pure dedication and continued sitting, he was able to draw 415 pictures that were enough to get his name engraved in the Limca Book of Records. He failed for many years before eventually fulfilling his dream in 2019, which gave him the confidence that everything is possible if you are dedicated enough.
The Next Step
"The key to organizing an alternative society is to organize people around what they can do, and more importantly, what they want to do." - Abbie Hoffman
Dinesh has always tried to build a better society for tomorrow than today, and he believes that it is only possible when you have the knowledge and skills to change the world. In his vision and mission of motivating people, he has got many recognitions, but he has kept himself grounded all the time. All his records are acting as stairs, helping him to climb to the next level for social benefits. He is spending most of the money from his sponsorship and awards in building the chances for other skilled folks, which is bringing a flame of hope to the community.
Dinesh always believes in focusing more on making discoveries through his talent than getting awards. However, he also knows that they can help him to reach out to maximum people who need his guidance to know about their capabilities. To felicitate his work, a local MP has already nominated him for one of the most respected awards, 'Bharat Gaurav'. Apart from this, he has already filled out the form for the prestigious 'Padma Shri’ that is given in recognition of people’s contributions in various activities such as arts, education, social service, public affairs, and others. Currently, he is working to realize his biggest dream of opening OMG resorts on the line of OMG book of records company and OMG talks. These resorts will allow people to demonstrate their talent and display their masterpieces, all in one place, which in turn will motivate others to choose their hobbies and decide their stream of career.
