Having worked for twelve years as a civil and traffic engineer in the U.S. in 1982. Mammen ventured into starting his own engineering business and started the engineering consultancy firm called Daniel Consultants, Inc. in Maryland, with less than $300 in savings. His company was successful in obtaining several research and design contracts with the U.S. Federal government agencies and several other state agencies in the Northeast U.S. During his professional career in the engineering business, he was able to employ over one thousand engineers, designers and served as a candle, which provided light for them to advance and succeed. Most of his employees started their careers in his firm and received their first cheque from him. Their life advanced and changed. He has been a source and instrumental for their new successes during the past fifty years. His biography book named "My Life Story" is available on Amazon.
