Vivid Sydney 2022: Unmissable Attractions
Vivid Sydney 2022 is going to be brighter than ever with some star attractions such as the Vivid Lights Cruises, Botanic Garden, Customs House and more.

For 23 days Sydney will be transformed into a wonderland of luminous installations, exhilarating music concerts, and creative talks which sheds light on the importance of the  roots of the city. Sydney’s favourite event on the calendar, Vivid Sydney, is one of the biggest festivals of lights in the Southern Hemisphere, inviting tens of thousands of people from across the globe. After a two-year hiatus, Vivid is back, bigger and brighter than ever, so gear up for an extravagant display of art and innovation, fueled by pure talent! Here are some noteworthy attractions to look forward to for this year’s Vivid!

Vivid Cruise Sydney Harbour

Arguably the most anticipated event in Australia, Vivid Sydney, brings together artists from all creative origins to give birth to exquisite art installations that will blow your minds! One of the main drawcards of the event is the illumination of the sails of the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge which comes to life with bright colours and patterns, making the harbour a hotspot for revellers. The ideal way for you to experience these scenic vistas is onboard a Vivid Light Cruise which offers unparalleled views of the vivid lights show and the illuminated city skyline with a sumptuous array of food and drinks. You get to embark on any top vessel including a classic paddlewheeler, a premium glass boat and a multi-million dollar catamaran, all custom-built with unique features. You also get to cruise under the lit-up Harbour Bridge, not once but twice! What more could you ask for a perfect night out ? Get your seats right now!

Customs House

Customs House is always amongst the most brightly lit buildings in the city centre. In the biggest installation of the event this year, the building is looking forward to housing some family-friendly installations. During the previous Vivid, Aussie kids saw Snugglepot and Cuddlepie scampering around the Customs House. May Gibbs first wrote about these bush heroes a century ago and those iconic sagas were projected onto this historic building in Circular Quay. So you can guarantee it’s going to be even bigger this year.

Vivid Ideas

Vivid Sydney is not always about the light installations and the high-energy music concerts, it's also about the ideas. The stage is set for some of the best creative thinkers around the world to shed knowledge about thought provoking and controversial subjects. This year we will come face to face with the fashion maverick and singer-songwriter Troye Sivan who will hopefully shares his take on beauty, creativity, queer politics and much more. Discover how the artist rose to fame and used the ladder of success to challenge the stereotypes around masculinity, beauty and gender fluidity. Sydney’s creativity can be seen beating right at the heart of the city during Vivid, presenting you an opportunity to listen to cultural connectors like Stephen Page, Ramesh Mario and Sara Mansour. Gain a deeper insight into the diverse culture of the harbour city through stories that define us and bring us together.

Royal Botanic Garden

The Royal Botanic Garden is one among the many areas that actually imitate a fantasy land of surreal art installations of blooming flowers and spiralling trees that will take your breath away. The vast area of the garden provides the perfect blank canvas for Vivid’s light sculptures and dazzling projections to thrive. Right as you enter through the forecourt of the Opera House, the trail will leave you awestruck. The leafy surrounds of the garden including other attractions such as the Aqueous, Parrot Party, Nacre and the giant metallic blossom named The Bloom are not-to-be missed.
