By default, Snapchat does not back up your camera roll. So, figuring out how to insert camera roll images into Snapchat can be quite troublesome when there are no settings or buttons for it on Snapchat.
In order to get it done, you have to post stories from the camera roll to save them on Snapchat which is really tiring. But, I have a trick that will not require you to actually post stories.
How do I save photos from my camera roll to Snapchat?
Follow the steps below to save your camera roll photos to Snapchat:
- Actually, first, you need to click on the yellow icon inside the white ghost (I am talking about the Snapchat icon).
- Open the Snapchat Direct Camera screen and tap on the Memories icon at the bottom. It is located to the left of the shutter button.
- Check the camera roll option near the above articles. If you tap on it, you will see your camera roll photos. However, there is a message above – your camera roll is not backed up by Snapchat. Don’t care.
- To back up the camera roll, select images or single images as per your choice.
- After capturing the images, you will see the menu below. There you need to tap on the export icon.
- In the Export section, you need to select Snapchat. This will open your pictures in Snapchat just like capturing Snaps on Snapchat. So, all options are available like posting stories and adding gifs.
- But instead, you don’t want to make all the edits and save them to the camera roll. So, directly hit the save button below.
This process will save your images to your camera roll and Snapchat memories. If your settings allow your cameo on Snapchat to only save pictures to the camera roll, you can always save them to your Snapchat memories by changing the settings.
Select Snapchat Settings > Memories > Save button > Memories and Camera Roll.
It saves your pictures to your camera roll and Snapchat memories. What I love most about Snapchat is that deleting and reinstalling the app never deletes our Snapchat memories. They are always safe in the right place.

Camera Roll: Photos/videos saved on your device. If you lose your device, the data cannot be recovered.
Memories: Backs up pictures/videos saved in Snapchat’s cloud memories. You can easily recover your device if you lose it by logging into your account. It can also save your device storage.
Snapchat lets you use two options: Memories and Camera Roll. Pictures are stored on your device and in the Snapchat cloud.
