I've recently started messing around with SEO stuff and use of tools like URL Opener and many others. Some time ago I made a web page through Wordpress, and these days I have been modifying pages, especially the URLs and meta descriptions. But in Google the old ones still appear, and in fact when you click on it, it is redirected to the correct URL.
Is it necessary to do something in Google Search Console, after modifying URLs? Or do you just have to wait for Google to check all the new URLs through the sitemap and update them in the search engines?
I see that you mention that you use Wordpress. When you change something on a page, the sitemap is supposed to be refreshed with the last modified date of the modified URLs. That would be enough to let Google know to take another look at it.
However, Google has recently announced that it will use less and less power to crawl already indexed pages, so you just have to be patient. I am afraid that SEO, especially on pages with few URLs, is not something in which you make a change and it is reflected overnight. Relatively a few years ago it was like that... a shame.
I am afraid that to reduce this time you can do few things. In my experience, the best thing you can do is improve the text of those articles and even expand them, since it is a topic that Google usually likes (as long as it is not straw). In these cases, getting new links to those pages can also be a great idea, but if there are many urls, it is better to use that patience that I am telling you about. In any case, there are times that luckily it can happen to you tomorrow.
My recommendation in these cases is that you continue working on that website or creating new ones and meanwhile, the one you are commenting on will remain fallow waiting for one day its opportunity will come.
