TheBelt and Road Initiative is theabbreviation of the Silk Road Economic Belt and the twenty-first CenturyMaritime Silk Road (abbreviated BRI). It consists of two main components, theland-based "Silk Road Economic Belt" and oceangoing "21stcentury Maritime Silk Road ".
Theinitiative focuses on promoting policy coordination, connectivity ofinfrastructure and facilities, unimpeded trade, financial integration, andcloser people-to-people ties through extensive consultation, joint contributionand shared benefits, with the goal of bringing benefits to all.
