Data that is not required secured by a resource profile can be allocated security labels. Spool files, for example, are allocated the security label of their producers. In many circumstances, data that has been assigned a security label keeps that label from the moment it is generated until it is erased. When a spool file is produced by a user or job that is executing under a security label, the spool file is assigned the user or job's Security Labels. The security label is retained by the spool file until the spool file is removed (which can be long after the user logs off or the job ends). Users can log on with different security labels at different times but with the same user ID; without security labels, a user always has the same (default) security level and categories.
