These devices help in the localization of problems within the human body. They utilize various methods such as laser, ultrasound, and infrared energy.
These devices are a simple, non-invasive procedure done in the interventional radiological field where a thin, synthetic catheter is placed in the patient's vein to block blood flow in the particular path of interest. Various synthetic materials are employed to prevent mechanical forces during placement, thus ensuring that the catheter remains in place and does not move across the surface of the skin. Ultrasound is used to maintain the catheter position and to avoid complications. The placement is usually done on the neck, legs, feet, or ankles. Occlusion is done with minimal time and with minimal risk, making it an extremely useful therapeutic procedure.
