Foam Dressings are absorbent and nonlinting. They have a nonadherent coating that enables nontraumatic removal and vary in thickness. A film coating or an adhesive border may be included on some of them as an extra barrier against microorganisms. Foam Dressings offer thermal insulation and a moist environment. They are produced as pads, sheets, and treatments for pillow cavities. For partial- and full-thickness wounds with light, moderate, or high drainage, foam dressings can be used as primary dressings to offer absorption and insulation, or as secondary dressings for wounds with packing. They can also be used to absorb drainage around tubes and to offer additional absorption.
