SpiceXpress to test electric cargo planes
SpiceXpress, the hived off cargo operations of SpiceJet, and Pifore Group have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to develop electric cargo planes.
While the official spokesperson of Spice only confirmed that the MoU was signed some time back without sharing other details, Sunil Tiwari, founder of Pifore Group in a Linked post, said: "We are delighted to get Spicejet support to bring revolutionary change in the Indian aviation sector."
Pifore has also signed a MoU with US-based Bye Aerospace to deliver five electric cargo aircraft to be leased by SpiceXpress, Hindu BusinessLine reported.
Both the companies have agreed to start a closed airfield as a zero carbon airport with the support of electric cargo planes and other zero emission products, the report added.
Pifore Group provides engineering, construction and technical services for public/government agencies and private sector companies in India.
SpiceXpress was hived off earlier this year on a slump-sale basis for Rs 2,555.77 crore.
