A lumbar disc herniation is a common cause of Sciatica because it presses directly on the nerve. The symptoms of sciatica can be brought on by any factor that inflames or irritates the sciatic nerve. Radiculopathy is a word used to describe the abnormalities in the intervertebral disc caused by nerve irritation. Other causes of sciatica pain, besides a strained nerve from a disc, include injury, infections in or around the lumbar spine, internal haemorrhage, muscle, tumours, and irritation of the nerve from nearby bone. Sometimes during pregnancy, sciatica pain might be brought on by sciatic nerve inflammation.
The discomfort in the sciatic nerve is accompanied by a number of risk factors. These include lumbar spine trauma, slipped discs, lumbar disc disease, and lumbar spine degenerative arthritis. Along with discomfort, Sciatica also causes tingling, numbness, and a burning sensation that radiates from the lower back and upper buttocks down the back of the hamstring to the back of the foot. Leg pain, hip pain, buttock pain, and lumbar pain are the results of this. There are times when the discomfort radiates around the hips or buttocks, feeling something comparable to hip ache. Walking difficulties can result from severe sciatica.
