One idea being developed for high speed rail is corrosion protection. Some of the proposed solutions are coating the rails with an anti-corrosion paint, which is said to be easier to apply and maintain. Another solution involves using a special coating, which is able to resist rust. One problem with applying anti-corrosion paint to railway stations is that they can easily become slippery. A solution that is currently being considered is magnetic railing, which would eliminate the slipperiness that is associated with railway stations. For instance, in July 2021, a steel producing company in the U.K., British Steel, launched a wide range of Weathering Steel for the construction of gantries on railway tracks.
The Railway Coatings are also being developed to provide fire protection for the stations. One such coating is the fm5 1985 fire protection coat, which is the most recent model in a series of anti-corrosion coatings. It has been developed to meet the demands for fire protection that are being placed on public transport systems around the world. There are also various other solutions being developed for the development of a high-speed rail network. One of these is the copper electroplating solutions, which is said to be more efficient than other anti-corrosion coatings available in the market. The copper used for this purpose has been coated with zinc to prevent corrosion of the metal.
