Storage Area Network
SANs are critical components of an organization's Business Continuity Management (BCM) activities (e.g., by spanning multiple sites). A switched fabric technology is commonly used in Storage Area Network. Fibre Channel (FC), Ethernet, and InfiniBand are a few examples. Gateways can be used to transfer data between SAN technologies. Fibre Channel is widely used in business environments. Fibre Channel can carry SCSI, NVMe, FICON, and other protocols. Ethernet is widely used in small and medium-sized businesses. Storage and IP protocols can be converged onto the same network using Ethernet infrastructure for SANs. Ethernet can carry SCSI, FCoE, NVMe, RDMA, and other protocols.
