If you are reading this, you are an Apple device owner who constantly looks for the latest operating system updates, to enjoy a better user experience. And luckily, here is some good news for you. Packed with some notable new features along with a range of performance improvements and bug fixes, iOS 13.5 is a major update indeed. However, even before Apple users could take a peek into what the latest update has to offer, it has gotten embroiled in too many issues. Not to mention the zero-day hack that opens the gate for a jailbreak on all the devices running on iOS 13.5. So, here is everything you might want to know about iOS 13.5 or iPadOS 13.5 update!
At a time when the entire world is facing the uphill task of fighting the novel coronavirus, Apple and Google have partnered to introduce Exposure Notification API to assist COVID-19 contact tracing apps from public health authorities. When activated (Settings -> Privacy -> Health -> COVID-19 Exposure Logging), an iOS device can exchange random IDs with other supported devices using Bluetooth.
The exposure log enables an authorized app to notify you if you have ever been exposed to coronavirus.
In the backdrop of the dreaded COVID-19 outbreak, iOS users were looking for a quick way to unlock iPhone/iPad with Face ID while wearing a mask. And it looks like Apple was paying close attention to this desperate wish of users.
iOS 13.5 features a simplified unlock process that allows users to unlock Face ID equipped devices comfortably while wearing a mask. Furthermore, the passcode field automatically shows up when you swipe up from the bottom of the Lock screen, while wearing a face mask. It works in several places when authenticating with Apple Pay, Apple Books, and App Store as well as Face ID supported apps.

iOS 13.5 offers an option to control automatic prominence during Group FaceTime calls, to prevent video tiles from changing size automatically when a participant speaks.
With iPadOS 13.5 or iOS 13.5, your device can automatically share health and other important information from your Medical ID with emergency services, whenever you start an emergency call. Currently, this feature works only in the US.
Right after Apple introduced iOS 13.5 to the public, the infamous UncOver hacker team came out swinging with a sensational jailbreak for iOS 13.5, by exploiting a zero-day flaw that allowed apps to execute arbitrary code with kernel privileges. Notably, the jailbreak supports not only the old devices (iPhone 6 and later, iPad Air 2 and later, iPad mini and later, and iPod touch 7th generation), but also the newest ones like iPhone 11 Series.
As is always the case, Apple hasn’t taken much time to fix the zero-day flaw. The tech giant has just released iOS 13.5.1 and iPadOS 13.5.1 to patch the exploit found by the uncOver team.
