It is not necessary to apply Radiation Curable Coatings on freshly cut wood or metal. The finished article will be safe to handle without such application, provided that the surface has been properly prepared. Abrasive preparation is one of the main factors in determining the suitability of an application. Abrasive preparation is also important in protecting the finished product from ultraviolet light radiation. In cases where the surface has already been exposed to ultraviolet light radiation, exposure to radiation-cured coating may reduce the effectiveness of such coating.
