The use of plastic containers is expanding in the food, beverage, cosmetics, and pharmaceutical sectors. The market was made more open by new filling technologies and the development of heat-resistant packaging materials. Although PET bottles are used in many industries, polyethylene (PE) bottles are most frequently used to package beverages, cosmetics, sanitary goods, and detergents.
With its push for circular economy principles, the European Union is setting the bar for the plastics plastic packaging market. Nearly 10.2 million tonnes of post-consumer plastic waste were collected in 2020 and transferred to recycling facilities both inside and outside of Europe, according to the Plastics Europe 2021 study.
