Best Smartphones for 2019 in Each Segment

2019 has been a very hectic year for almost every smartphone manufacturer. Competition in each segment is at an all-time high with consumer demand and devices supply for every price-segment at a peak. And with the mid-rangers becoming the new flagships, 2019 brought about some very radical and some not-so-useful changes of these many new devices, and even fewer stand out from the competition. So, we have tried our best to list out the best smartphones of 2019 in each price bracket.

The sub $150 price-segment is by far the most competitive. There are many worthy adversaries like – Realme 5S, Redmi Note 8, Samsung Galaxy M20, Realme 3 Pro. But since there can only be only one winner, we have chosen the Redmi Note 8.

There are several smartphones in this segment that were launched in 2019. Devices like – Redmi Note 8 Pro, Realme X2, Samsung Galaxy A50s, Samsung Galaxy M30s, Redmi K20 are strong contenders. But, the one that stands out from the pack is the Realme X2.

This segment has become more and more popular in the last few years. Moreover, this segment now holds the title for flagships since the pricier phones have been further classified into premium and pro flagship devices. And now, this segment has become the place of affordable flagship smartphones. 2019 was one of the best years for budget flagship buyers.

2019 saw the launch of many affordable flagships, including the likes of – Asus 6Z, Redmi K20 Pro, Realme X2 Pro, Oppo Reno 2Z, and OnePlus 7T. And we think you already knew which phone was going to win this segment – The OnePlus 7T.

Now, this is a comparatively new category or rather a unique kind of flagship that focuses on a particular niche – Gaming. 2019 witnessed the rise of smartphone gaming with the launch of many gaming titles such as PUBG mobile and COD mobile. There are three main competitors in this category, namely – Asus ROG Phone 2, Xiaomi Black Shark 2, and ZTE Nubia Red Magic 3S. The Asus ROG Phone 2 emerged as the winner of these three.

2019 was a year of many firsts from the smartphones world. It was also a year of many weird and fresh innovations from many manufacturers. Of them, one concept seemed to stick out from others because more than one manufacturer seemed to be working on the same idea. Four brands made four very different yet similar concept devices. Namely – Huawei Mate X, Xiaomi Mi Mix Alpha, Motorola Moto RAZR 2019, and Samsung Galaxy Fold. The Samsung Galaxy Fold won this inspite of production setbacks due to the sheer amount of availability to customers around the world.

Initially, the Galaxy Fold was sent out for a round of technical reviews that ended up in a bunch of damaged devices with Samsung recalling them. That fiasco resulted in Samsung tweaking and re-engineering some components before a relaunch of the new and improved version of the Galaxy Fold. The device has received mostly positive reviews from the media.

This particular device gets an ever incremental update with each and every passing year. But this year, Apple finally made the iPhone worthy of an upgrade with a proper upgrade. Armed with the latest A13 Bionic SoC, the Apple iPhone 11 Pro is not only the most powerful iPhone to date but also the most powerful smartphone in the world. The cameras have also received a proper upgrade on the iPhone 11 Pro, which is now a triple camera setup. The display, too, gets an update in the form of a higher-resolution OLED panel.

Finally, this is the best of smartphones you can buy in 2019 with almost very little to compromise. You may have guessed it by now, but there were many notable contenders. Namely – Huawei Mate 30, OnePlus 7T Pro, Google Pixel 4XL, iPhone 11 Pro Max, Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus, Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus. But, the winner for Smartphone of the Year is the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus
