Finding the Right POS System
There are a million different POS systems out there and though you've probably made the decision to go with one, the question you're asking yourself now is, "Which one?" It's a valid question and one that you should consider carefully before you make any decisions. Changing POS systemsAustralia after you have already had one installed is expensive, time-consuming, and often unfeasible so you need to be sure that what you are getting is perfect for your business.
Web-Based or Software Based?
When restaurant POS systems first hit the market the only option was a software-based system that was similar to all of your other office software. It was installed on your computers and was contained completely in-house. This means that when you have problems, a service tech will have to come to your establishment in order to work on it. Also, all systems get bugs and need to be updated, and in order for your system to get the patches and updates that it needs, a tech has to come out and service the system.
Newer systems (and older ones that have kept current) are now available in web-based versions. The entire system is able to be manipulated remotely. If your system crashes, you simply call the company and they can fix it without needing to come to your place of business. You can imagine how much more convenient this is when your system goes down in the middle of the dinner rush. Also, all patches and updates are downloaded and installed to the system as they become available.
