1. Carotenemia

Due to the beta-carotene in papaya, eating papaya can cause darkening of the skin, which is medically called carotenemia. This is a disorder in which the whites of your eyes and palms turn pale yellow – as if you are suffering from jaundice.

2. Respiratory disease

Papaya should not be consumed in excess, as it can cause many types of respiratory problems. These include shortness of breath, wheezing, nasal congestion, fever and asthma.

3. Upset stomach

Although this fruit is great for your stomach, overeating can lead to digestive issues. The high fiber content, including the latex present in papaya peel, causes abdominal pain.
