Non-volatile memory (NVM) was first developed in 1970. Electrically Programmable Read Only Memory was the name of it (EPROM). Ultraviolet light was used to erase EPROM. A new kind of NVM was created in 1974. It was known as EEPROM, or Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory. Electrical signals may be used to delete data from EEPROM.
The second variety of non-volatile memory is NOR flash. In 1980, it was created. Early in the 1990s, NOR flash memory chips were produced. It is quicker to use NOR flash memory than NAND flash memory. The third non-volatile memory type is NAND Flash Memory. It was created on or around 1985. Flash memory with NAND is slower than flash memory with NOR. When a low signal enters the NOR gate, the output turns high, activating the enabling the first transistor while blocking the second.
