An agricultural and household insecticide, beta-cyfluthrin is highly soluble and moderately volatile
Beta-cycluthrin is a member of a family of synthetic phytochemicals called citrus sulfur compounds.

Citrus sulphur compounds are a group of synthetic phytochemicals that include beta-cycluthrin. Although the name 'beta-cycluthrin' is deceptive because it does not contain sulphur, these chemicals are frequently utilised in the manufacturing of pesticides. It is a powerful antioxidant that is particularly effective at killing microbes and is utilised in a variety of agricultural applications. Although the insecticide is not poisonous to humans or animals, prolonged or repeated exposure may be harmful. For example, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) launched field dissipation studies for sample analysis of beta-cyfluthrin isomers on barren soil plots in Germany, France, and Spain in April 2020.

Many low doses of beta-cyfluthrin, including ingestion and inhalation, cause no effects in laboratory animals. Acute exposure happens during an attack in the case of acute poisoning. Some bug species are more sensitive to the toxin than others. Even low amounts of beta-cyfluthrin have been shown to produce depression, seizures, and in some cases coma and death in experimental animals.
