Important Information Regarding AFCAT Exam
All three branches are open to applications from both men and women.
In all three branches, women only receive a short service commission, whereas males receive both a permanent and short service commission.
But for the Flying Branch, AFCAT only provides Short Service Commission. You will therefore be qualified to enrol in the Air Force Academy if you pass both the written exam and the AFSB. The Air Force Selection Board (AFSB) evaluates applicants based on their performance on the online test and attendance at the meeting. Both the AFCAT and the Engineering Knowledge Test must be taken by newcomers who are settling in Ground Duty (Technical) branches (EKT).
Selection Process
The Indian Air Force (IAF) compiles a list of applicants who meet the requirements for admission in the online AFCAT exam and are invited to one of the Air Force Selection Boards for an interview at one of the following locations: Dehradun, Varanasi, Gandhinagar, or Mysuru. The final merit list is then created, followed by a medical examination.
