A Personal Reflection FOR THE ITM Information Technology Essay | Acemyhomework Writers
I have been in information technology industry for a long time. I have first-hand information technology experience especially in authorities, utility, consulting, software and manufacturing industries. I needed to contribute with my industry experience during ITM 700 and ITM 800 training. Other associates did not have an identical backdrop or experience thus acquired different factors of view the majority of enough time.
I particularly possessed experience with Ministry of Environment, Federal government of Ontario, specifically using their RFS and RFP operations. I wanted to work with my past experience with Ontario government in making a much better RFI. I recognized our professor had also Ontario federal government experience. I suggested what needs to be achieved to make our tasks more successful based on my useful industry experience, in concern of professor’s previous experience with the industry, especially her experience with the government, what she’d be looking for in a RFI.
Other associates responded positively sometimes, mostly did not trust what I suggested. But regardless of differences of thoughts, I complied with almost all and delivered information. More often than not, feedbacks from teacher were towards what I proposed earlier. In most cases I received little if any feedback on my elements of the deliverables.
They grasped what I acquired as industry experience was genuine and was really consistent with what these training want to achieve. I believed that my earlier experience on the market contributed to my learning, and my education here at Ryerson was consistent with what I discovered in the industry, giving me assurance i was obtaining an education that could actually be put to good use and would at the end help achieve my future profession goals. It was not only theoretical but also applicable to today’s and future business environments.
Other team members also realized these courses weren’t definately not real business life realities. Plus side to this experience was that it had not been always what we should felt like was true; it was what customer sought and what success and lasting competitive advantage guidelines dictated.
Bad thing was we realized we had a lot more to learn and gain a lot more experience, we were just at the start of an extended journey and the road ahead was full of problems, was long and needed a continuous awareness and energy to keep up with the rate and to keep at it.
I found that technology, tools, their fit for purpose and their positioning with corporate strategy were very important for survivability of an company. This made it clear if you ask me that we need to educate ourselves constantly about technology trends. We need to know how appearing new technologies can transform how we do business. We need to be in a position to identify if indeed they can be had by competitors. If indeed they were obtained by opponents, what could this suggest? What would be the future threat if opponents were to conform these technologies much before? We also have to be able to understand if these new technology are simply a fashion statement and will disappear like never took place or existed, or will they form an important part of how exactly we do business. Whenever we look back again, will we say “I can’t imagine how exactly we made business without these technologies”. Take, for example, twenty years ago, how do companies communicate with their customers without internet, how did multinational and geographically dispersed businesses communicated internally, that which was the speed of which they could occur to a choice in regards to a particular subject with cooperation of geographically dispersed team members? How did they reach to international costumers? What was the method of delivery of information regarding their products and services before internet didn’t exist?
Impact of technology on a variety of regions of businesses is becoming more obvious with every day. How would companies have shortened design to market cycles without use of it as they actually today? What could we have achieved with a certain amount of budget twenty years ago in comparison with what we can now with the same budget? Would the business enterprise profit the same? Considering how far the computing capacity increased within the last 20 years, it is just a challenge to assume what future business environment and culture can look like. We need to prepare yourself and ready for such changes in the near future which probably will happen in a not too long of a period span.
I learned how to overcome a team environment that has many market leaders, with difference of thoughts. I gained experience in how to handle conflicts of priorities. It had been a remarkable chance for me to increase my experience on how to tackle limited routine timelines. I discovered how to juggle what we are in need of for our project versus what your client would like from the same project. It was an exclusive opportunity for all of us to understand how to handle challenges due to insufficient interest on the client’s part in providing important financial information for our deliverables.
My strategy with this consumer was to draw out sensible amount of information, if at all possible, for our deliverables while keeping client’s curiosity about the project intact. I structured my activities on gratifying client’s needs as well as providing enough information for our deliverables for our course. Striking a balance between what consumer wants and what we need for a successful survey for our course was the key.
Experience i had with well known talking to companies such as Deloitte & Touche, Cover Gemini and IBM helped me a whole lot in gathering requirements and setting up reviews. My knowledge and experience regarding technology, business source planning systems, business application development and maintenance helped a great deal during both ITM 700 and ITM 800.
It is important to comprehend the needs of the client and articulating them. Keeping reliable records of marketing communications with your client, getting clearness on the requirements, good understanding of their close to and future business expansion are essential elements in an effective project.
I comprehended that to raised take care of and deliver projects in the foreseeable future, it is important to comprehend client’s business, what’s important for them, what the critical elements are in sustaining their competitive benefit and thus how our project can help improve them.
It is also important to have a better understanding of technology trends that are applicable to client’s business. Better articulation of jobs, deliverables, timelines, lead times and resources needed are also important.
Demonstrated and ongoing executive leadership can be an important aspect in a similar project. This allows reasonably fast decision-making during the project, reducing threat of delays in delivery of the task. It makes it clear to the team members and other stakeholders that the organization is assisting the project and they will receive the job deliverables and results they are expecting.
Adequate financing and resources focused on the project is also important. Without this, quality of the deliverables may go through, project may be postponed, team may become more likely to cut corners on the job, or take more dangers and therefore jeopardize the grade of results of the project.
Clear governance, tasks and obligations is another essential requirement of an effective project delivery. Without clear governance, assignments and obligations, key milestones and delivery schedules can be skipped. Due to the task not being given the value warranted by older professionals, resources may be transferred from the job, critical decisions may be deferred or taken off agendas and the project may lose credibility because of this.
Another important success factor for a project is complete and clear requirements. This removes significant changes in range throughout project’s lifecycle, likely resulting in the job being on-budget, and being on time.
A detailed, well-thought out plan helps to have an obvious picture of what will be delivered and when. This will allow enough lead time to acquire vital resources needed into the second option parts the job, for example testers, complex writers, coaches, and business users to validate and admit the deliverables.
Greater consideration for individuals and organizational change management rises chances of acceptance of the job deliverables by the client by causing its business environment ready to hold and support these deliverables. It’s important that the deliverables are embraced by business users usually the project might not be observed as successful even if everything is provided as arranged.
Multi-stakeholder marketing communications is also important on a task because without regular marketing communications client may lose assurance in our capability to manage the project, might not have a definite picture of what will be delivered, so when, may not be familiar with issues occurring on the job, whereas issues may have happened with a direct effect on delivery dates, quality and range of deliverables or may believe that there are significant issues occurring on the job when there are none.
It is also important to acquire a better knowledge of overall economy in Ontario and Canada as it pertains to industry our client is working in. We need to better understanding legal implications and regulation in Ontario and Canada that affects business of our own client.
With the assistance of most these critical success factors, we can finish up with an improved managed job, better customer care, and bigger benefits recognized. We can also decrease timeframe to gain again the investment made on the job. Better position of technology with company strategies that feeds and sustains competitive benefit of the client may also be an important result.
We can get more training to improve ourselves. We ought to increase amount of connection with team surroundings and get more opportunities to apply good communication skills such as presentations, people speaking and other method of increasing verbal communication. This may also further be nurtured by accomplishing more consumer facing tasks as much as possible.
Overall I was very pleased and content with my experience with ITM 700 and ITM 800 at Ryerson. There was never a flat moment during the course of study in the last eight months. Ryerson provides its students unequalled opportunities to provide themselves with relevant, current and industry aligned skills and experience in a changing and highly competitive global overall economy. To be a Ryerson graduate I am going to feel a lot more assured and ready for troubles that future business life provides.
