The Easy Way to Painting Powder Coated Aluminium Window Frames

When you are painting aluminum windows, you need to use paint that is specially formulated for paint coating metal and not regular paint that you might use for other home surfaces. Aluminum is a very popular material for home construction, and because of its lightweight properties, many homes are framed with aluminum instead of wood. Unfortunately, aluminum also has a tendency to develop scratches and dents when it comes in contact with metal objects. This is why painting your aluminum windows should be done with extra caution, especially if it is an older home. The paint that you choose for painting aluminum windows is important in making sure that the final result looks great and is durable.

First, find some masking tape. You will want to be able to identify any areas of the window frames that may need to be painted. If you are using a primer coat, make sure that the primer is on all surfaces of the frame including the primer spot. Otherwise paint can seep through and ruin the paint job.

Take your paint sprayer and spray the whole frame. Make sure that you allow plenty of time for the paint to dry. It may be necessary to wait several hours or even days for this to happen. If painting aluminium windows frames is in a rush, then you should probably consider painting smaller sections of the frames at a time.

After spraying the aluminium window frame, remove any masking tape, and any other accessories that you do not need with the painting. Use a floor scraper to scrape off any dirt or loose particles of paint. Wipe down the entire surface of the frame with a clean rag, making sure to get into all nooks and crannies of the metal. Wipe in any grooves and depressions that may be present as well. After you have wiped the entire surface of the frame, you will want to place a masking tape over each individual panel. This will prevent any of the paint from seeping underneath the masking tape.

Behind painting powder coated aluminium window, rinse the frames under warm tap water and then wipe them down with a clean rag. Allow the frames to dry fully before replacing the trim around the outside of the windows. The trim around the outside should not be overly difficult to install if you have some handy men or women on hand. Once the trim is installed, you will want to install the window sashes. These come in two styles: flush mount and roll up. You can find these in many hardware stores online or in your local home improvement store.
