SCADA is used all over the world, especially in developed regions such as the United States. SCADA, or Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition, is a type of computer system for monitoring industrial processes. This type of system collects real-time production data and analyzes it.
SCADA systems have advanced significantly in recent years in terms of functionality, scalability, performance, and openness, to the point where they can now be used instead of in-house development for even the most demanding and complex control systems, such as those used in physics experiments.
The architecture, interface to process hardware, functionality, and application development facilities provided by SCADA systems are all described in this paper. The industrial standards to which they adhere, their planned evolution, and the potential benefits of their use are all discussed.
