What Is Putty?
Putty (mud filling) is a decorative material for smoothing the surface of the wall. It is a thick paste coating and an indispensable product before painting. It is applied on the primer or directly on the object to remove uneven defects on the surface of the object to be coated.
The putty is formulated with a small amount of binder, additives, a large number of fillers, and an appropriate amount of coloring pigments. The pigments used are mainly iron red, carbon black, chrome yellow, etc. Fillers are mainly calcium bicarbonate, talc, and so on. It can be used to fill partially recessed work surfaces, or it can be scraped off the entire surface, usually, after the primer layer is dry and applied to the surface of the primer layer. It is required to have good adhesion and no cracks during baking.
Selection Principle
1. Waterproof performance
Wall putty requires gypsum powder and chemical glue in its constituent materials, which are an important basis for waterproofing. As the base layer of latex paint on the wall, the putty must be waterproof to isolate the direct contact between the wall and the latex paint and prevent the latex paint from falling off due to moisture on the wall.
2. Strong performance
The putty must be strong, and the strong putty can well adhere to the wall base and carry the latex paint. At the same time, it can also ensure the tough appearance and performance of the wall. So how do you judge whether the putty is firm after use? You can look at its ingredients. The same requirements are gypsum powder, chemical glue, and dry old powder.
3. Leveling performance
One of the important functions of putty is to level the wall, fill in the concave part, cover the convex part, and then artificially sand and level it. Putty needs to meet benign stickiness properties.
4. Environmental performance
