Spray foam insulation is an alternative to other types of insulation which includes mineral fibre rolls, fibreglass, or wool.
Spray foam insulation is used to block off roof spaces, which limits airflow. This may have a negative effect on the integrity of a roof and its roof timbers. Timbers decay when humidity builds up in a roof area. Another difficulty is that because closed cell spray foam hardens so quickly, supporting roof timbers may be subjected to additional strain. This can also harm a roof's structural stability.
